Cartographer 3 – This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features. The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game. Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, “experimental” version of Cartographer.

Paranoia Enemy Player Alert

August 4, 2008 at 11:00 pm (addons)

Paranoia – Is a WoW addon by Lifetapt (originally by rmet0815) that attempts to detect enemy players of the opposite faction near you. The addon detects enemies by registering to the COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED event and searching for any events that are triggered by units with flags 0×548 (player-controlled characters outside of your group that are hostile to you).

Once an enemy is detected, you can easily target them by clicking on their name in the Paranoia enemy list, analyze the situation, and decide whether you want to run/stealth/hide or engage the enemy. While Paranoia is intended to prevent hostiles from sneaking up on you and ganking you, it’s also great for sneaking up on others and ganking them!

Low Health Warning

August 1, 2008 at 3:42 pm (addons)

Low Health Warning - This addon adds a visual fullscreen effects when your health or mana dips below certain values. If will try even harder when you get below a critical value. Sounds like nothing special? Well, you really have to see it in action.

Hunters and Warlocks rejoice! Low Health Warning can now show your pet’s or demon’s health in addition to your own.

See screenshots for a preview of the effects. The health and mana effects can be changed to use a larger texture. They can also be changed to smoothly increase or decrease the flash rate as you lose or gain health or mana. The pet effect is a green cone on the upper part of the screen (subject to change, feedback about this is appreciated).

There is a heartbeat sound effect for a more intense warning. Some might recognize this system from other games, but it hasn’t been done in World of Warcraft as far as I know. The health flash will synchronize with the heartbeat if you set it to use smooth flashing and give it the same threshold as the sound.

Usage

/lowhealth (/lhw, /lowhealthwarning): opens the settings window.

The health flash, using the small texture:

The mana effect, using the large texture:
